Why do trucks Idle?
Trucks Idle for many reasons
-
Trucks have to idle in order to run the heat or air
conditioning to keep the driver comfortable so that he or she can get
proper rest
-
In cold temperatures they idle to keep the diesel
fuel from gelling and make it so that the truck can be started
-
In hot weather just as in cold weather the truck must
be running for the a/c or heat to be operable as well as to keep the
batteries charged while running the fans to keep the driver comfortable so
that they rest properly
-
Idling a semi Truck is just as necessary as it is for
us at home to be able to turn on our air conditioners or heaters at home,
and since the batteries on a truck are the source of electricity it is
also necessary in order to maintain power for lights and fans or electric
blankets, refrigerators etc.
What would happen if the
driver could not rest properly?
-
The driver would not be able to be fully attentive when
they are driving if they hav little or no sleep because it was either
excessively hot or cold while they were parked for the mandatory sleeper
time required by law
-
Peoples lives are at stake if drivers are not allowed
to get the proper rest! Not just the
drivers of the trucks but anyone who they might come into contact with!
-
immanent danger is what I would call it
Idling laws
-
Some states and cities have very
tough laws about idling a truck that can result in a large fine (a
list of all of these will be coming soon)
-
Just as you would not want to
have the police come to your house and tell you to turn off your
electricity because it is the law we need to fight to keep them from doing
exactly that to the men and women who work a very thankless job to make
sure we all have the items we need in our stores and the gas for our cars
so we can drive
