Split speed limits for cars
and semi trucks does nothing but cause problems!
- Because anytime you have traffic running at separate speeds
you make it necessary to pass slower vehicles and this is multiplied
many times over when you mandate separate speed limits
- Regardless of speed limit there will always be someone going
slower than that limit
- When you hold the speed of a semi down and traffic slows it
down even more the semi has no chance to make it up a hill without
ending up dramatically slowed down and can take miles for the semi
to re gain speed
- Passing another vehicle is one of the most dangerous
maneuvers in an automobile and split speed limits make this happen
more often
-
Split speed limits are amplified as a
problem when you add Lane Restrictions for semi's
- Lane restrictions not only have the trucks pinned down to
usually to the right lane or 2 right lanes ... but by doing this
make a wall of trucks that everyone getting on and off of the
freeway have to go through. This wall of trucks is made worse by
drivers who cut the trucks off making them move even slower and due
to the time it takes to regain road speed
- People who disregard the turn signal of a semi that make it
have to slow down or stop instead of just moving over and keeping
its speed built up cause a huge problem too what might have
originally cost them a few seconds of time to be courteous might end
up costing them their very own life, or at least everyone around
them a lot more than the seconds that courtesy would have avoided
- Cars and light trucks accelerate 0 to road speed in a matter
of seconds--- a semi pulling a heavy load up hill that gets slowed
down due to some discourtesy might take several miles to gain back
even 5 mph and will end up slowing everyone else as a result
